Uganda Silverbacks head for Afrobasket in Senegal, Tunisia

The Uganda men’s basketball team, Silverbacks head to Senegal today Tuesday ahead of the FIBA African Basketball Championship starting tomorrow Wednesday.

The FIBA African Basketball Championship (Afrobasket) is scheduled for September 6 to 18 in Senegal and Tunisia.

The Silverbacks expect to play three games in three days in the group stage.

Uganda Cranes meet Silverbacks in Egypt

Uganda plays Angola on September 8, Central African Republic on September 9 and Morocco on September 10.

The Silverbacks have spent two weeks in Egypt training for the group games of the Championship.

If the Silverbacks manage at least two wins in the group stage in Senegal, they will advance to play in the next stages of the championship in Tunisia.

To allow the team to compete at the championships, the Basketball governing body FUBA received about sh300m funds from the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni for preparations and the actual competition.
