ATHLETICS:UPDF joins UAF to redesign IAAF Cross Country course

Uganda People’s Defense Forces are remodeling and marking athletics course for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Kampala 2017.

The Championships is due March 26, 2017 at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Over 700 athletes from across the globe are expected to compete at the biennial event, which is the oldest event in the IAAF world series.

Head of competition at the event Faustino Kiwa supervised the first exercise on Wednesday and is expected to conclude by January 10, 2017.

The course will also be used by the Uganda Athletics Federation in January 14, 2017 for the national cross country championship team that will represent Uganda at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in March.

 

Wednesday morning, the media was taken around the course that will be modernized that will have elevations, depression and obstacles to make it more challenging.
