Uganda Cranes beat Slovakia in Dubai

Uganda Cranes has defeated Slovakia 3-1 in an exciting international friendly match at the Armed Forces Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Moses Oloya scored in the fifth minute while Faruku Miya added in the 14th minute before team captain Geoffrey Massa sealed it in the 77th minute of the game.

Denis Vavro had moments into the second half pulled a goal back for Slovakia.

This was the third test match for the Uganda Cranes preparing for Africa Nations Cup in Gabon after the 2-0 defeat to Tunisia and their 1-0 win over Slovenia.

The Uganda Cranes play another international friendly against the reigning African champions Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday, 11th January 2017 at the New York University Stadium in Dubai.

More recognition for Uganda Cranes, Onyango

More recognition including another one for Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Onyango Denis and the National Football team the Uganda Cranes is expected soon.

This is after Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named the Uganda Cranes their national team of the year 2016 and Onyango the African Player of the Year - based in Africa.

Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango is the CAF African XI custodian for 2016.

Whereas CAF also voted the Uganda Cranes National team of the year 2016, Onyango also ended up with the award for African Player of the Year - based in Africa.

That means Onyango ended up with recognition from three different fronts.

Uganda Cranes looks for second win in Dubai today

Uganda Cranes will not want to go down against Slovakia in a friendly game as the team flies high at CAF at the moment.

The team is in United Arab Emirates where they will face Slovakia in an international friendly match in Dubia at 5:30pm today Sunday.

On Friday evening, Uganda emerged from a 2-0 defeat in an international friendly against Tunisia in Tunis to beat Slovenia ranked 51st in the latest FIFA Rankings.

And it was youthful Onduparaka FC striker Muhammad Shaban who netted the lone goal as Uganda Cranes shocked Slovenia 1-0 in a closed-door friendly match played in Dubai.

They will play the African Champions, Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday.

Uganda Cranes’ 17th January 2017 Group D mates Ghana are also camping in the United Arab Emirates.

Uganda Cranes open their group D campaign against Ghana on 17 January before taking on Egypt on 21 January.

Their last group stage game is against Mali at Stade d’Oyem in the Northern Province.

FOOTBALL: Uganda Cranes squad for Gabon AFCON finals ready

Head coach Milutin Sredejovic has named his final 23 man squad for Uganda Cranes 2017 Africa Nations Cup finals, Gabon starting this Saturday.

Although for various reasons seven of the players did not feature in the Cranes international friendly against Tunisia  which Uganda lost 2-0 on Wednesday, they secured slots on the team.

The seven players include goalkeepers Dennis Onyango, Robert Odongkara, wingers Moses Oloya, Kizito Luwagga, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya and midfielder Murushid Jjuuko.
